Toward the Christification of the World

In a touching speech following his re-election as Superior General, Fr. Theodore O. Kalaw, CRM, shared a profound reflection with members of the Order of Clerics Regular Minor. Reflecting on an image from the Gospel, he drew inspiration from the scene of Jesus' journey to Jerusalem, where Jesus, riding on a donkey, was praised by the crowds before facing crucifixion. This image served as a powerful metaphor for the journey of faith and leadership.

P. Kalaw began his speech by expressing his humble acceptance of the mandate, emphasizing that his 'yes' was not just an act of obedience, but a commitment to a shared mission. He emphasized that the essence of their work is to “Christianize the world,” a goal that can only be achieved through a life lived with deep faith and dedication.

He sincerely addressed the challenges they encountered, acknowledging that relying solely on human strength often leads to downfalls. He reminded listeners of the need to depend on Christ, the source of the purest love and the purest mission. “Sometimes we fall,” he noted, ”because we rely only on our own strength and forget the One who gives us the purest love and the purest mission.”

Fr. Kalaw's talk was not only a call to unity and dedication, but also a reminder of the importance of humility and service. He urged members to remain rooted in Christ, drawing on His infinite grace and guidance. This, he said, is essential to truly transform the world and bring the light of Christ to every corner.

Reflecting on the weeks spent in deliberation and prayer during the General Chapter, Fr. Kalaw stressed the importance of collective effort and the strength that comes from unity. He urged members to keep their hearts open to the Holy Spirit, allowing His gifts to guide and inspire them in their mission.

In a powerful conclusion, Fr. Kalaw drew parallels with Jesus' humility and steadfastness even in the face of praise and ultimate sacrifice. He urged all to reflect this humility and dedication by focusing on service to God and His people. He called for a commitment to humility, service and preparation for healing, hope and wholeness in their respective missions.

As the Order looks ahead to the next six years, Fr. Kalaw expressed confidence in the blessings that await them, anchored in the rich history and solid foundation laid by their founders. He encouraged members to walk in faith, perseverance and charity, always keeping their eyes fixed on Christ.

Fr. Kalaw's talk serves as a beacon of hope and an invitation to deeper faith, unity and service. His inspiring words set the tone for the Order's future journey with a renewed commitment to their divine mission and the greater glory of the Risen Christ.
